Porto Wines
The history of Quinta Vale D. Maria begins with the most traditional wines of the Douro region, Porto. Initially, the estate produced grapes that were destined for this type of wine, albeit under other brands, made by large Douro houses. It was only in 1996 that Quinta Vale D. Maria began to produce and market wines under its own name, from a field blend of more than 25 traditional Douro grape varieties, where Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca predominate, but where you can also find, among others, Rufete, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Francisca and Sousão, from vineyards between 10 and over 80 years old. These vineyards are exposed to the south, southeast, east, and west.
