Vale D. Maria
Very Old White Porto Colheita 1940
White 1940
Aged for over 80 years
Over 80 years, as the world transformed, a White Porto wine waited silently to be savoured. With great anticipation, the Vale D. Maria Very Old White Porto Colheita 1940 aged, its essence refining over time. When a White Porto wine is first produced, its colouris light, very similar to white wine. However, as it ages, it undergoes an oxidation process due to contact with air through the small pores of the wooden casks in which it is stored. This oxidation process gradually darkens the wine’s colour, transitioning from its initial pale tone to a deeper amber or golden hue. Only 339 bottles were produced, each one numbered. Every detail was meticulously crafted by hand, from bottling to labelling.
